OFY is looking for young adults to help facilitate growth experiences for teens. We are seeking hard-working individuals who are adaptable, have a contagious positive attitude, and are team players. Applicants should be ready to camp Monday–Friday and be comfortable being outside in all weather (we had snow last summer).

Apply if you have the ability to relate and communicate with youth, teach with the spirit, and be a positive role model. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving, and confident in their ability to motivate and assist campers in everything from learning to social interactions.

OFY Counselor

Counselors are the heart of camp, leading a group of up to 16 youth through a week of adventure, teaching, and growth.

Job Description

As an OFY Counselor you'll plan and lead your cabin's week, facilitate adventure activities, teach Gospel-centered lessons, and look out for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of every camper in your group. It's demanding, hands-on work, and one of the most rewarding summers you'll ever have.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate your cabin's daily schedule of activities and manage transitions to ensure the timely arrival of your group.
  • Work with your co-counselor to plan daily activities that meet the needs of your group of up to 16 youth.
  • Facilitate group activities (high ropes course, low ropes course, ice breakers, etc.) for your campers.
  • Teach gospel-centric lessons throughout the week.
  • Promote the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of all campers.
  • Mediate any conflicts that may arise between members of your group.
  • Report any notable concerns or incidents to Senior Camp Managers.
  • Help maintain camp through manual labor.
  • Enforce all camp rules and procedures.

Requirements

  • CPR & First Aid certification preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict mediation.
  • Ability to teach and lead discussions with campers.
  • Must be 19 years old.

Dates: May 25th – July 31. Must commit to the whole summer, with weekends off.

What We Offer

Compensation & Perks

Starting at $400/Week

Weekly pay starting at $400, depending on experience (DOE), plus a bonus upon completion of the contract.

Food & Housing

Food is provided while working, and housing is provided all summer long, so you can focus on the experience.
