WEEKEND staff 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

OFY is looking for individuals to help facilitate high and low ropes courses for community groups during the weekends. We are seeking detail-oriented, hard-working, team players to help us create deeply significant learning, leadership, and recreational experiences for all the participants. Applicants should be ready to be outdoors in all types of weather. Apply if you are patient, fun-loving, and confident in your ability to motivate and assist participants.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enforce all camp rules and procedures.

  • Work with your co-workers to plan activities that meet the needs and goals of groups.

  • Teach proper procedures for participating in high and low ropes courses.

  • Plan and coordinate the schedule of activities and manage transitions to ensure the timely arrival of your group.

  • Set up and facilitate group activities (high ropes course, low ropes course, ice breakers, etc.) for participants.

  • Lead meaningful group discussions and look for teachable moments.

  • Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of participants.

  • Report any notable concerns or incidents to Senior Camp Management.

  • Help maintain camp through manual labor.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • CPR certification preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity.

  • Ability to teach and lead discussions with a group.

  • Must be 18 years old.

  • COVID-19 vaccine
     

COMPENSATION

Starting at $10 an hour, DOE
20 hours a week (Friday and Saturday)
Food will be provided while working

OFY COUNSELOR

CLOSED FOR SUMMER 2023, CHECK BACK IN NOVEMBER FOR SUMMER 2024 APPLICATIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION 

OFY is looking for young adults to help facilitate growth experiences for teens. We are seeking hard-working individuals who are adaptable, have a contagious positive attitude, and are team players. Applicants should be ready to camp Monday-Friday and be comfortable being outside in all weather (we had snow last summer). Apply if you have the ability to relate and communicate with youth, teach with the spirit and be a positive role model. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving, and confident in their ability to motivate and assist campers in everything from learning to social interactions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate your cabin’s daily schedule of activities and manage transitions to ensure the timely arrival of your group.

  • Work with your co-counselor to plan daily activities that meet the needs of your group of up to 16 youth.

  • Facilitate group activities (high ropes course, low ropes course, ice breakers, etc.) for your campers.

  • Teach gospel-centric lessons throughout the week.

  • Promote the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of all campers. 

  • Mediate any conflicts that may arise between members of your group.

  • Report any notable concerns or incidents to Senior Camp Managers.

  • Help maintain camp through manual labor.

  • Enforce all camp rules and procedures

  • Demonstrated skills in conflict mediation.

  • Ability to teach and lead discussions with campers.

  • Must be 19 years old.

  • COVID-19 vaccine
     

COMPENSATION

Starting at $400 a week, DOE

Food will be provided while working and housing will be provided all summer.

$1000 bonus upon completion of contract

May 22 - August 4, 2023 with most weekends off
